Environmental Concerns: Going Green

Your Plant System and Environment
The safe handling and containment of corrosive chemicals is of paramount importance to any plant manipulating these dangerous substances. The following are several ways we assist you in managing the liabilities associated with process liquids, in order to help protect our environment:
  • Secondary containment liners for all operations areas
  • Day tanks, piping troughs, and dosing tanks
  • Fume abatement and treatment systems including the following:
  • Collection hoods and covers
  • Plenums and duct work
  • Blowers and fans
  • Scrubbers and exhaust stacks

Our Greener Process and Product
The resins used to make our extruded polypropylene construction materials are by-products of crude oil refining. Our technologies provide an effective use for these resins, which were previously discarded. Consider these important facts about our materials and plant facilities:

  • Other than electricity, extruding our sheet material consumes few other resources.
  • We recycle a large majority of our scrap plastic material.
  • Polypropylene is resistant to a wide variety of acids, alkalis, and solvent solutions, making it an excellent choice for chemical service applications.
  • Because of the extremely low absorption rate of our materials, their disposal after useful service life has little environmental impact.
  • Polypropylene meets FDA requirements for food contact.
  • Polypropylene has excellent thermal qualities; consequently, energy loss outside the working envelope is minimal.
  • Fabricating with polypropylene sheet generates no offensive or dangerous exhaust gases.
  • The efficient heating system inside our shops recycles the hot air from our tools and equipment, resulting in a 20% reduction in heat energy consumption.
